Self-Sufficiency Program ... an opportunity to make lasting changesThe U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of Albuquerque fund the Supportive Housing Program. It helps homeless, non-disabled individuals get off and stay off the streets of Albuquerque. Self-Sufficiency assists these people in making profound and lasting life changes by providing the support and resources necessary for the transition to social and financial self-sufficiency. Program Overview The goal of the Self-Sufficiency program is to support participants towards making changes and realizing goals that enable them to live independently and maintain stable, affordable housing. The program works with people from all walks of life and offers individualized case management that supports participants to define their own road map for self-sufficiency, assists participants to address and resolve obstacles along the way, and offers information and referrals to community resources. Participants also receive transitional housing for up to two years, this means that participants pay 30% of their income toward rent and St. Martin's pays the remainder. The program serves single men, single dads and two parent families.
