ACCESS (Albuquerque Continuum of Care for Enhanced Supportive Services)

The primary goal of ACCESS is to assist homeless individuals and families in finding and keeping permanent housing. This is done through a process including the following:

Employment Assistance

Outreach is conducted to identify individuals and families who are interested in receiving employment assistance. In addition referrals are received from other SMHC programs as well as from other agencies. Training is available on resume writing, interview skills, and how to look for a job, earn a GED, etc. Computers are made available to work on resumes, cover letters, etc. We also do one-on-one work with individuals to assist them in identifying barriers to employment and in deciding what career path to pursue.

Family Services

Outreach is conducted to make contacts with the homeless families that visit St. Martin's. Shelter staff also refers families to this program. The goal is to develop relationships with these families in order to move to provide services and open the door for case management opportunities. Diapers, formula, children's clothing, and other family items (received primarily as donations) are distributed to families through the Family Services Program. Referrals are made for housing, food, rent/utility assistance, education, parenting, health care, employment, domestic violence, counseling and other community resources.
